The Numbers Game
(Boulder-CO) There has been a lot of speculation around the NBA Blogosphere as to what number Allen Iverson will be wearing when he suits it up for the Denver Nuggets. Well, after sleuthing around my contacts, probing the greatest minds that the NBA has ever known, and crunching numbers deep into the wee hours of the morning I think I have "The Answer" (sorry I couldn't help myself).
According to a source very close to the team, Allen Iverson will soon acquire his old number "3" from DerMarr Johnson. He may not start out wearing it, due to NBA paperwork and red tape needing to be handled, but it is the opinion of my inside source that he will end up lobbying and wearing his longtime number. The weather out side is frightful, Denver Nuggets fans. Let's hope that the blizzard that is upon us doesn't disable AI from making the game tonight. Does anyone know how long it takes to drive from Philly to Denver?

Any idea when A.I. will be suiting up for his first game in baby blue Doc?
Doesn't the NBA make players wait a year before they change numbers? I think Kobe and Amare had to wait a year before they changed their numbers for this season.
I understand that this is a normal practice for hockey or baseball players but I tihnk the NBA has some "red tape" that prevents players from trading or selling numbers to new teammates.

You may be right on that, Ryan, but the source that I taked to is so close to the Nuggets that they could get pregnant! Watch out...

He will be wearing #3 on Fri night. I was watching 9News storm coverage on ch 20 and they showed the woman stitching his name and number on his first Nugs jersey and it was Iverson 3.
I can't wait for Fri night, the game is going to be a blast.

As I read on SI.com and Rocky Mountain News: DJ switches to #8 and Allen is goin' to stick with his beloved #3...
Will be so weird to see AI play in a non-Sixers uniform... and UNBELIEVABLE to see that the one he IS wearing is a Nuggets uniform...
